Default 9X13 table opening

I have a rockler router table with a stand I built for it. Wanting to upgrade to a router lift on my table. My problem is the opening is a 9X13 and the jessem lift i would like to purchase has a smaller plate. Does anyone have any ideas for me other than tossing my existing table and purchasing a new one?

You might be able to install hardwood furring strips around the inside of the existing opening, and then rout a new lip for the plate of the lift. I'd use an angle drill to install dowels through the hardwood into the edge of the table (probably MDF) for added strength.

Default Another idea

Why not make an overlay out of melamine or 3/4 mdf? Duplicate all the openings and track slots on the overlay and use the hardware from the existing table top.

OK, I'll ask, how big is the plate on the lift??

John Schaben

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.
