Default router table revisions

I've had a nice router for years but my table needs work. I have a jointech system. I routed a rabbit for the router plate to sit in but didn't do a very precise job; consequently the plate moves side to side 1/16" when pressure is applied. My question: Does anyone know of a way to 'shore up' the plate while still allowing the router to be removed for bit changes? I have considered but didnt' want to just replacing the entire table top. Do they make a metal frame for the router plate to sit in? Then I could re-route the footprint to more exact dimensions for a tighter fit.
thanks for your thoughts.
