Default Plunge router in table?

I'm relatively new to working with routers so I'm looking for guidance. I have a Craftsman Mod 315,275062 3 1/2 HP plunge router. Quite frankly I find it too big, top-heavy and clumsy for hand held work. I'm planning to mount it in a table and buy a different tool for hand -held. something on the order of a PC 693 or Rigid 29302. You experienced folks, any thing wrong? I know there are some posts against plunge routers in a table. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

Hi Mac.
I have two tables with plunge routers in them. One is a Triton 3-1/4hp with above table adjustment. The other is an Hitachi M12V with a Router Raizer for above table adjustment. I have removed the springs from the Hitachi as they are not needed for the lift. Nothing wrong with a plunge in the table. Some use their plunges for double duty so they take it out to use free hand & some are dedicated to the table only as mine are.

Have a nice & safe day!
