Default Incra router table help

Hi,

Iím thinking about getting the an incra router table with the ls super fence. I can get a woodpeckers lift from a friend that will fit the table. Does anyone know if it will make a difference if I donít use a router lift from Incra. As far as I can tell the only difference will be the set screws for leveling, incra plates level a little different and not having the magnalock reducing rings that come with the incra lifts.

Thanks for your help

It shouldn't make any difference as Incra sells joint venture lifts with both Woodpeckers and Jessem. They're both 9.25" x 11.75" x .375" plates. Why don't you look at Woodpeckers' tables for the Incra system. They're cheaper and they also sell the Incra systems usually for the same price.

Chris,

Rest assured, there is no need to match a router lift brand with the fence brand.

I built my table around a Incra LS Supersystem in '09 with an Incra/Jessem Mast-R-Lift but that was just my personal preference. The Woodpeckers lift was a close second choice (just my opinion) though I'm a real fan of the magnalock rings with either lift design.

With many of the newer routers offering through-the-table router lifts with their stock bases, the largest benefit of a lift (no reaching under cabinet to adjust bit height) can often be purchased through careful router selection.

That said, that's just my personal preference and there's no reason why it should be yours.

Hello and thanks for letting me introduce myself. I am brand new to this forum and am relatively new to woodworking. I just purchased the Incra LS Positioning system as well as their router table. I had to get the undrilled magna lock because I have a Craftsmen 28190 router that I really like. I could not find this listed in their drop down list of compatible locks. Does anyone happen to know if there might be a corresponding model, such as Bosch, Porter Cable, etc. that would have the same base plate? Any information would be appreciated.

I don't have a direct answer for you but the Milescraft Router Mounting Key (attached) is a pretty good place to start. You may or may not find your specific router but you may be able to narrow the selection by looking at the drawing and chart.
