Working on making my first router table. I took an old drafting table that I had, and kiped the top from it. It's 1/2" thick, and covered in melamine.
Mounted that to a 3/4" slab of plywood, with enough clearance around the edges to mount a lower fence of 4"x1" poplar. 2x4's make up the legs and braces, and the poplar fence extends out on one side about 6" so that I can fasten it to my table saw (Entry level Skil from Lowes), and also use it as an extension table.
I have the Jess-em basic plate that I will mount a Hitachi M12VC to, and I got a miter track and T-track for the table to mount the fence to, and I will be finishing the table this weekend.
What I'm planning is a fence with a T channel across the backs of the faces, mounted to a vertical piece on a sled so that I can slide the faces out to accommodate larger bits. Been looking at a lot of plans over the last couple weeks.
Anyway, that's about it, if you have any suggestions, tips, references, love to have them!
P.S. Yes, I will post pics when I finish the table.
