Default plunge router in a table

Hi all, I've heard yes and no about a plunge router in a table. What do you all think? I have the Bosch 1617evs with fixed and plunge base, plus a under table mount. It seems a plunge would be easy to adjust, but like I said I've heard good and bad about doing this. Thanks mike

If you have both fixed and plunge bases and it's the only router you have, I'd put the fixed base in the table because for hand held work, I would be needing the plunge more often than not. If depth is set with a lead screw and not by rotating the motor, adjusting a fixed base in the table is not an issue.

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

I would use the fixed base on the table. The 1617 has a above the table depth adjustment.
