Hello Robert. I have both - both are home built contraptions. I use the vertical rigfor raised panels with a vertical bit and for cutting mortises and tenons. I use the table for everything else. Basically if I am cutting the edge of a piece that would have have to stand up vertically on edge on a table set up, I find the vertical set up easier and safer because the work piece is laying flat, but you can also get good results from a table with a high fence and feather boards to keep the work tight to the fence. In practice, I seldom use the vertical set up because there is very little that I can do on the vertical rig that I cannot do on the table, and most time it is just easier to set up the table because it is always out, and I have to dig out the vertical rig. But for those occasions where I have cut a lot of panels or several identical pieces with mortises and tenons, nothing beats the vertical machine. Hope that helps.
