Default Triton 3/14 Hp modifications

All,
While I am awaiting the arrival of my new Triton 3/14 HP router and finishing up the new table to install it in, I have a question: Are there any recommended modifications to be done to the (new model w/steel gear) to make it more user freindly as a table mounted router? TIA

The Triton works great for a table mounted router. Just mount it according to instructions.

Yup,
Paint 'er camo, slap some Yosemite Sam mud flaps on 'er and stick a Dixie flag on the side!!!

Seriously, though, I wouldn't "mod" it out just yet. Any permanent mods will void the warranty, as I'm sure you're aware of and, with any new purchase, warranty is important. The only thing that is recommended is to remove the plunge spring to mount it in a table.

When you do mount it, make sure you position it to your liking where the controls are comfortable for you (i.e. being a lefty/righty, which side for coarse plunge depth, which side to power on, etc...). Especially be concerned about where the above table fine adjustment is. For me, I tend to go under the table and use the router's knob to fine adjust. If you prefer above table, then be aware that the hole needs to be closest to the operator and not towards the rear (as mine is) so that the fence doesn't block it. The last thing you want is to set the fence and then have to constantly remove it, raise the bit, then reset the fence.

Ray,

No mods are required. If using table mounted, Triton recommend you remove the spring and they show how to do that in the manual.
