Default router tables

I have just bought my first router and would like to get a table for it.

I have a limited amount of money to spend on a table for the first router I just purchased. Are there any suggestions as to where and which table to purchase.
I am limited to $200.00

G'day Mike

Welcome to the router forum

For a table within your budget, I would recommend the Oak Park table.

Start with your local library and Bill Hylton's book, Woodworking with the router. Also check out Pat Warner's site. Plenty of things work well, but what I found was as one changes router (HP increase), or finds features they are willing to pay for (bonus money to spend), then your first router table, will not be your only one.

Why not build one to your own preferences? For$200 you could build a very good one customized to fit your router.

If you can put together your own leg set, look for a commercial table top and fence that fits your budget.

If you skills warrant, put together a top and leg set and go for a good fence and plate insert for your router.

You could also build the entire rig yourself but I find that getting a commericial plate insert is a worthwhile investment no matter which way you go.

+1 on the Bill Hylton and Pat Warner books. A great design with a lift top can be found in Hylton's book (the revised edition).

And look for a fixed base router with above the table adjustment capability. That will avoid those $250-350 router lifts.

i asked the same question a week ago. Finally I made a decision to make it by myself. Now I have finished the router table top. I am building the cabinet.
