Default Ryobi router and table

Anyone have an opinion on the Ryobi router and table from Home Depot? They are priced right for beginning routers. I thought that I could pick these up and learn a few things before commiting and graduating on to more professional type tools.

Derek,
That is the router and router table I started with a few years ago, I have used it on a few small projects. It works fine for a starter set-up, to see if you want to get into it and invest in a better router and table.

You came to the right place for info, I am in the process of building a router table and have got alot of good advice and instrucion from this forum.

Derek, I'm not sure of the price of the Ryobi table but right now Grizzly is offering the Presidents router table for $106 and that is a pretty hard deal to beat. Keep in mind that most routers can be used with any table; you just need to drill the mounting holes.

Hi Derek. Welcome to our little corner of the 'net.

Is that the intermediate table going for $99? Looks like a pretty good starter table. Go for the 2hp router as it will accept 1/2" bits as well as the 1/4" ones.

Thanks for the replies everyone. That is the same table I'm talking about for $99. The router was $79 I think and it was the bigger 2 1/4 I believe. I had pretty well settled on this pair, I just wanted to get some other opinions from people "in the know". I think these will be my "had to start somewhere" pieces. I'll definitely being hanging around here to soak up some ideas. Thanks again.

Well, I did it!! I went and bought the table and router (both Ryobi). My beautiful loving wife decided at the same time to buy me the Ridgid table saw for my Christmas present! It worked out great as HD has the tool promo on right now where if you spend so much, you get so much off. We ended up getting $125 off. So, to me, I ended up getting the table and a portion of the router for FREE!!!
There is going to be alot of scrap wood played with tomorrow!! (Hard to tell I'm a little excited, eh?)
