Default Re-purposing Variable Speed Control

I canniblized an old Craftsman Benchtop bandsaw. It had a 2.5 amp motor with a variable speed control. The wiring is 16ga aluminum. Can this VSC be re-purposed by wiring it into a RT w/PC 690 1 3/4 Hp router?

A 1 3/4H router pulls WAY more than 2.5 amps. Also the scrollsaw quite possibly has a permanent magnet DC motor.

So the short answer is no.

Hi Bill

Why not just buy one that can do the job..it's only 20.oo bucks.

Router Speed Control

Save the parts off the band saw for some other project down the road or better yet just get a motor for the band saw and fix it..for the small jobs
