Best Router Table Choice
Eighteen years ago I purchased a Freud FT2000 router along with an Woodline Arizon router table. Both the table and router, both heavy duty pieces at the time, have seen much action as the router was attached to the table. While I am not a full-time woodworker, I utilized that combination so much that this past summer I burned up the router. (In making a bed for my daughter this summer, I also burned up a 7-year-old Bosch router as well.)
Needless to say, I had to purchase a replacement. Being happy with the first Freud router that I had, I decided to purchase another--Freud FT3000VCE. It is a 3 1/4 hp router that is beefier than the first one. That's the good news. When I tried to attach it to the Woodline Arizona table, the new base is too big by about a 1/4 of an inch.
So, I'm seeking advice on what to do. Should I purchase a new table? If so, what do you recommend for this router? If I try to utilize the old table, I will need to machine a new mounting plate as well as the two brackets that hold the router to the table.
Thanks for your input.
