Default Triton TRA001 Yay or Nay?

I'm thinking about picking up the Triton TRA001 while they are on $199 clearance. I've never used one of these routers so I'm looking for some input on the router. I will primary use it in a router table but I man occasionally use it free hand. Are these pretty good routers for $199 or is there something better for that price? If possible id like one with a built in lift (I dont think the triton has one...correct me if I'm wrong)

Hi. The new Triton's have a built in lift with above table adjustment. I have a Triton TRC001 in one of my tables & it works well as a table mounted router. I have never used it freehand as I have many other routers for that so it has been mounted in the table since I bought it. The model your looking at might be an older model without the above table adjustment. You would have to reach under to make adjustments when table mounted unless it was mounted to a base plate you could lift out.

When you say new routers, dose that include the one on clearance at woodcraft: Buy Triton 3 1 4HP Plunge Router at Woodcraft

or do you mean the newer version of that router comes with a lift?

I think that is the older model. The newer models come with a built in lift you can adjust from above the table. Mine is the Triton TRC001 3-1/4hp.

Yep it clearly states.....

Product Information:
Also included is a winding handle so you can adjust bit height from above your router table in 1/128" increments

I have an older model that I added a razier lift to. I love mine.

On the WoodCraft web site it says it is a TRC001 not a TRA001 so you should be fine & receiving the newer model.
