Default help on new router table please

hi

i have taken the plunge and bought my first router table

i have a erbauer erbrt3-240 which has a 1850w motor and 1/2 , also variable speed

i bought a decent table from axminster, 298 axminister, not allowed to put url....!

i have an issue, when using the below bit the bit seems to vibrate and struggles to stay vertical. seems to stray off centre

axminister website, Axcaliber Cornice Moulding Router Cutter Order code: 951289

i have only previously used it handheld on smaller bits

any help would be great

adrian

Hi adrian

You may want to check and see if you are using a 12mm shank bit..not the same as a 1/2" shank bit..

Hi Adrian - I think this is the bit you have
Buy Axcaliber Cornice Moulding Router Cutter from Axminster, fast delivery for the UK

That is a VERY large bit, at least IMHO, have you reduced the router speed? I would think a max of about 12,000 rpm on that thing should be plenty.

John Schaben

The problem with experience is I usually get it immediately after I need it.

hi bob & john,

thanks for the super quick replies

i have just checked the website, it is a Classic 1/2"(12.7mm) shank cornice profile cutter

so that should be ok,

i have also turned the speed right down to 1 which is the slowest and it seems to catch and then move off centre...

i am cutting in small increments so it should be ok

will try tomorrow to use a straight piece and see if that works
