Default Decision on which router for my table

I have a 15 y.o. PC 690 single speed in great condition and a newly acquired Makita rp2301fc plunge router. I am going to buy my table as right now time is not in my favor with making my own...I am leaning towards a phenolic top as it will be spending time under my covered patio and I am nervous to go with a mdf top due to temp and humidity changes. It will be mounted with an aluminum insert. I want the ability to do some raised panel cabinet doors and other basic duties. I realize these two routers are worlds apart which is why I seek your help! plus I need to determine whether I need to buy a pre-drilled plate....
