Default Routering Inside The Edges

I am working on a charging station for my grandsons' multitude of electronic devices. Routering the edges with a round overbit is no problem. The end caps are similar to the shape of a church pew and I'd like to router inside the edges to take away from their planeness. How can I router a groove say an inch inside the edge? Any other suggestions for dressing up the end caps would be greatly appreciated.

Easy. Make a template to follow. You can use a flush trim or pattern bit to follow the curve of the end cap to make the template if you make the end cap first and then use it to make the grooves. If you make a template to make the end caps, use it to make the grooves too.

Someone I consider a master woodworker once told me that a master woodworker is not someone who never makes mistakes. He is someone who is able to cover them up so that no one can tell.

You can do a lot more work on inside edges before you do any assembly. I always have great 20/20 hindsight!!
