Default Rockler HPL Router Table Set - $249 Plus Free Shipping

I received an email from Rockler for a sale that includes free shipping through Saturday, May 17. One of the items is a complete router table for $249.99. I know that others have posted favorable reviews or comments about the Grizzly HPL table. This might also be another good one.

I know that this has caught my attention. I'm very interested in a solid phenolic top and a lift, but at this price point, getting into table routing is definitely tempting.

Hi Gareth.

This table looks very similar to the Grizzly table and this one from Timbecon in Perth.

I am on my second of these table and have been very happy with them.

This is a good price for what it is! However, be careful, a bargain is not always bargain. The price is tempting and the shipping is free, but depending on where you live you will end up paying sales tax which will drive up the price. The tax may be negligible but is still adds to the cost.

Just because Rockler does not have a store in your state doesn't mean you won't be taxed (read the FAQ on their website). I got sucked in by the free shipping and ordered some small shop items. I was surprised when I was charged sales tax. The tax was negligible, but if it had been a larger item I would have cancelled the order and shopped locally.

Generally, I find Rockler overpriced ( unless the items are on sale) on their products and prefer to deal with local merchants who will generally beat the price even with tax for comparable items.

With all that being said, the price is very good for a entry level table. I will let the other members weigh in on the quality as I have no experience with this product.

Good luck on your decision.

Bill

Hi, sorry I missed you. I have gone to find myself, but if I return before I get back, please ask me to wait.

I've had this exact Rockler setup for several years and really like it. I also have the FX lift in it, which makes it even nicer. Rockler is the only story anywhere near me, and yes, it is a bit overpriced for some items, so I too look for sales when possible. The local store is manned by several really accomplished woodworkers and are very helpful.

Rockler is a bit overpriced unless they have a sale. I get their email once in a while and sometimes they offer a good deal on something that I'm in the market to purchase. I'm not getting this table. It is tempting at that price point. I would really like a lift and a phenolic top. I'll keep looking. Very tempting though.
