Default routing hollows in trays

I would like to route a hollow on a cheese board for dips, I have most types of bits available, but I use a table mounted router. have made a template but not sure how to go about it. Help appreciated

That is a job for a hand held plunge router using a female template, a straight, preferably plunge bit and a template. This pdf should be of help to you.

Bernie this is a jig that was made to make curved seats however this idea can be used to make any type of cutout, hope it helps. N
