I see many of the newer machines, especially Probotic are offering a fourth axis.
* What have people made that need / use the 4th axis?
* What software supports 4th axis g-code?
* Are there 3D models available for the 4th axis?
* What software can create a model for 4th axis cutting?

Hi Steve. I have a 4th axis on my Probotix Meteor. Mostly it has just made tapered legs for my students in my furniture design classes. I've made a few more complicated example projects mostly just to show the students some of the potential. Vectric.com's Aspire is what I use to make the tool paths for 4th axis cutting. LinuxCNC does a good job of feeding it to my rotary axis. I have a different configuration for LinuxCNC to use when using the 4th axis, and it was provided my Probotix.

As for 3D models, I make my own using Aspire. My students may have used Sketchup, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, etc.., but then their models are imported into Aspire to then toolpath and output for cutting on the 4th axis.
