50 pcs ebay sets any good?

I am buying router bits slowly and paying 40 dollars or more for a single bit. Has anyone bought one of the large cheap sets from ebay? Are they worth buying or should I keep slowly investing in high quality bits?

Hi Ryano,

Buying bits in sets are always cheaper than buying individual bits. I've bought cheap sets from various places and I've never been disappointed. I have not purchased sets from Ebay because the shipping cost is usually pretty high. If you get carbide cutters on your bits (I consider this to be required) you should get something decent for the money you spend. I've also spent $40+ for single bits (especially bits for raised panels). Check out Rockler and MLCS for sets before you spend your money on Ebay. To be quite frank, I don't trust the quality of the router bits I just looked at on Ebay but that is just a gut feeling.

Hi Guy, You may want to try (PriceCutter.com) Or (grizzly.com) along with Rockler they are pritty cheap and also a lot better than ebay.I my self would not buy anything from ebay. But that is just me, I rather get a bit from a relable place. After all I don't want any bit parts flying around my shop.

I bought a set of bits at a good price but the problem with sets you always get some bits you wont use. I now buy my bits one or two at a time from Hartville Tools. They carry Whiteside bits which are very good. They give you a full 12mos to return something you don't like (less for power tools).
I'll bet someone in your family said "you get what you pay for" this is very true with router bits.
