I'm a 51 year old man who only discovered my creative ability after having gone through a rough accident back on March 3, 1997. I was in my 13th year doing all kinds of forrestry work for my older brother when after having cut a 30 ft. hemlock tree and managed to get it snarled up a bit in a few other trees. I was doing a merchantable thinning on a fairly small lot at the time, by myself. I then began the usual task of clearing out a few other trees so I had room to fall another big hemlock into the previous hanger. It had happened before, but not much.(hangers) I was actually in the process of limbing up my last tree when the wind must have switched direction for a bit because that first tangled up hemlock suddenly became untangled and hit me on the way down. I don't remember a thing since thinning up that last tree laying on the bottom. My spinal cord was crushed and I also got clipped, causing a moderate brain injury. Sorry folks, but I always end up telling this little tale in every discussion that I have about anything. There's a lot more, but I went in and out of a few hospitals(about 7 months worth) before I finally got to go back home and having to move to town to rent in a place more wheelchair friendly and my wife and 2 year old could live. There's a lot more blah, blah, blah, but my moods were eratic, my memory was terrible and all that I could do was wheel around a bit and my wife and little girl were soon gone. Years later I was doing some art-work and was also interested in woodworking. I tryed some carving, but no big interest and then I took a woodworking course and "BINGO", I hit my niche. I never got much financial assistance, but I struggled along and bought a few magazines that dealt with woodworking and practiced a bit down in my basement of my new home which I designed myself and had gotten a guy who would build it cheap enough for my finances from WCB and a mortgage that I could get, to cover. No it wasn't very big, but it was my new home. I have slowly been buying woodworking gear over the years and now I'm soon ready to do some start up learning how to do some and I will have to work only a bit at a time as I have to lay down every 2 hours or so to deal with chronic pain. Sorry about the jumping around and leaving out over 90% of my story, but getting sore. I'm in here now to see if I can learn how to handle dads old Sears Craftsman router. Not much tonight anymore though. Catch you later folks. Oh yeah, I'm one of those eskimos from Canada and I live on the southshore of Nova Scotia.
