My wife would love a greenhouse, but our lean-to spot are all in the wrong places. So it would have to be a freestanding, mostly glass construction of redwood. I'd have to string shade cloth that I can pull out during summer, and fold up in fall, winter and spring. Figure the costs to be at least $2500 or so if I could build it, but since that's out due to health, probably another 2 grand for a carpenter.

I just finished wrapping the end of our patio with lattice, which will provide enough shade to grow plants during summer without burning them. But my wife just announced she plans to decorate the space with artificial plants! So much for green thumbs.
