Fine Woodworking, February 2018, No. 266, page18, shows an interesting router mortising jig base made from 1/2" acrylic.

Author claims you can route acrylic, but does not state at which speed. Or, does it matter?

Could make the jig from 1/2" plyw'd, but it is probably easier to see the layout lines with the acrylic.

I cut Acrylic on my CNC at 18k rpm but I have a zero flute bit made for plastics. Here's a short video I put on my YouTube channel showing the bit and cutting the Acrylic (Plexiglas). There's another video on my channel showing some 3/4" Plexiglas being cut, as well.
