Been needing to do it since I got it, but I been putting it off cause I knew it was going to be a pain doing it alone. Planer weights over 600 lbs. and came with factory castors.
This is the planer (15" spherical head) that went up in smoke during my table build.
Rented a portable engine lift for 40 dollars and it was not as bad as expected. I went ahead and got the store bought Grizzly base under the table saw while I was at it.
Is your base stable enough to plane large heavy boards through? I have castors under mine but I don't trust the home made base I have for using the planer while it's sitting on it.
Good question. The Grizzly base that comes with it it perfect. It includes two solid wheels and one that pivots. It works really well, it has a foot life on the front side that allows it to roll by pressing the lever down or up with your toe.
