David, I have never seen the hearts on barbed wire before, what does that signify if I may ask?
Herb Good job ,looks great. What size is it?

I don't think it's supposed to be barbed wire. It looks like the EKG readout to me.David, I have never seen the hearts on barbed wire before, what does that signify if I may ask?

I had thought of that too ,but didn't know what to call it LOLI don't think it's supposed to be barbed wire. It looks like the EKG readout to me.
This is a really great piece!
Thanks, Mike! Is that what it's called? I read 'Medicus' on a couple of sites and it showed that symbol so I thought it was correct. Now I know in case I do another one. Medical guy I am NOT! LOL!David that is a really nice looking.
If it were my project and I decided to cut another one I would re-size the caduceus to extend the bottom down into just below the next white strip. That would help showcase the caduceus. Of course, that is just my personal opinion.
I would also use 1/2" BB again because I really like the look you achieved.
BTW thats a VERY GOOD action for my colleagues who are on the front line. and that piece of wood is AMAZING!! Id like to have one. This was just a test piece to make sure my file on the CNC was correct, so I grabbed some 1/2" BB before running this on more expensive Maple. Now that I have cut and finished it I may not make another one, not sure yet. I'll give this one to a friend who's on the front line fighting the virus.

Thanks! Just gave it to him. He is the manager at a clinic that has a drive-through service and was the first in our area to put that into place. The good thing about that is I can drive up, tell him it's in the back seat, and drive off - :grin:BTW thats a VERY GOOD action for my colleagues who are on the front line. and that piece of wood is AMAZING!! This is from the article you linked ...In reality the medical simbol is the Rod of Asclepius not the Caduceus.
The confusion starts with the use of Caduceus and Rod of Asclepius. The Caduceus is a symbol of Hermes or Mercury in Greek and Roman mythology. Caduceus symbol is identified with thieves, merchants, and messengers, and Mercury is said to be a patron of thieves and outlaws, not a desirable protector of physicians.[8] The symbol originated when Mercury once attempted to stop a fight between two snakes by throwing his rod at them, whereupon they twined themselves around the rod, and the symbol was born.[2,8,9] The Rod of Asclepius belongs to Aesculapius, who was the revered Greek God of healing.
