1.I cut the wafer from a thin piece with a hole saw W/O the pilot bit.

2.Mark the center on the plane, and lay it into the jig on the drill press.

3. chuck up the forstner bit the same size as the wafer and set the drill press depth to the plane and lock it in.

4. release the drill press quill, slide the shim under the plane. This will give the correct depth, clamp the plane against the fence.

5.drill the pocket for the wafer in the side of the plane.

6. glue the wafer in place.

7.Stamp the bug on the wafer.

8. finish with shellac.

Since you like pictures, I will throw in another. Nevermind those at the top, they are the rejects, for me to use.

I fixed the title and you fixed the pictures so it's all good. Beautiful work Herb but I'm still waiting for the tutorial on the shoulder planes. Not that I want to seem pushy or anything.

Thanks Chuck for bailing me out on the post. I put your request on the list, I will do that when I make the next one.

After discussing your plane projects with a panel of experts from around the country you are officially deemed "out of control".

At our special meeting, however, it was resolved that your work is outstanding, creative, aesthetically pleasing and overall wonderful.

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME...! ! ! ! !
