Anyone tried the Rockler sign kit

Anyone use this kit? I'm a little interested as it is Comic Sans font. I have the Milescraft kit but kinda limited with the block letters. Also looking, not very intensively, for a cheap graphics package. I was happy with the Microsoft Works word processor until I "upgraded (?)" to Windows 7 and found that limited font size to 72 point  which is kinda small for engraved signs.
Anyway, just how substantial are the templates in the Rockler kit. Doesn't look like it uses a frame, indicates the templates are just taped down.

Hi John

Get a free copy of Paint Net,it's not limited to 72 point size, select the size, hit the backspace key and type in the size you want to use,up to 544 point size.

sometime this will work in Microsoft Works also.

the one below is in 152 point size,Comic Sans font.

Paint.net I have found the most useful graphics programme for everything I need. Things like Coreldraw, Photoshop and the Gimp are far too sophisticated for what most of us need and all have a steep learning curve.
Paint.net is delightfully simple, very intuitive and lets you do things like changing font size to fit something on the fly, without the need to delete an unwanted size and start again.
I use it mainly for annotating photos. It is a definite step up from MSPaint and one programme everyone should have. I can't remember if it was Bob or Harry who put me on to it, but I certainly first learned of it here.

John, I have both sizes of Rockler sign kits, they come with a plastic bushing which flex's when appling presser against the templet causing the bit to damage the templet. I purchased a brass bushing and sign bit with Rockler and was very happy with it.

Hi Chris - Thanks for the input. I gathered their bushing was pretty much garbage from the Rockler site reviews. I've got bushings and it looks like a 3/8 bushing and a 5/8" bushing will handle it.
What I was curious about is how thick the templates are? Seems like if they are just taped down they would need to be a good 1/4" thick unless they require very short barrel guide bushings. I've got a couple of sets of short barrel guides from eagle america. Guides are .201 and if I could use those it would be great.

Hi Chris - Thanks for the info. I'm guessing if your bushings aren't rubbing on the stock that they are a bit thicker than an 1/8". May just order a set and see what happens next time I get a free ship from Rockler. :)
