Hello from a newbie, I have a B & D 7610 I inherited from my dad that works great. The unit has a 1/4" collet & some of the bits I want to use are 1/2" Is there or were there any 1/2" collets mad for the 6710. the manual states 14" & 3/8" ?

G'day @javalin101 , welcome to the forum...
Some of these older models run like clockwork, until you need a sparepart.....

Welcome to the forum @javalin101
Thank you for the welcome. Ya the 6710 runs like a champ but looks like I am going to have to shop for another router. The 7610 is currently mounted on my small router table and that's where it will stay. My neighbor sold her house so I inherited a Rigid band saw on dollies, older industrial drill press also on dollies, osculating table sander, & a dovetail jig for very little cash. My shop is getting crowded Everything runs quiet & smooth. No excuse to get the wife's list of projects done. LOL

What happened to the old collet? I am betting that if you still have it a good 3D printer could duplicate it for you. They do have METAL 3D printers now, you know.

I have a good collet but it is 1/4" & I need a 1/2" which I do not think was ever made for the 7610.

Find a metal 3D printing service. Send them the 1/4" collet and tell them to print one for a 1/2" shank. They can do it.

Any machine shop should be able to make one for you.

I really don't think so
Some routers have smaller diameter motor shafts that can take bits wth max. 8mm (about 5/16") shank size. Since bits with 8mm shank bits are only sold in Metric countries like Europe, a 1/4" (6.35mm) collet is provided so that users in USA can use router bits with 1/4" shank. You can go smaller but NOT bigger.
