Bosch 1617EVSPK

I just purchased the Bosch 1617 with the plunge base. The combination comes with a case. Now, this case has a lot of extra slots and things, which I assume are to hold accessories - but being a bit of a newbie, I'm not sure what these slots are for (some are obvious, but others, not so much). Can anyone provide this fool with a guide to the best use for this case?
Thanks.

I long ago gave up on the case. I know one circular slot is for the collet not in use. The 1617 has a ton of accessories, you might look some up and see if they will fit.

Welcome to the forum Riley. I have two of these and the cases are in storage. While nice they do take up a bit of room. I built a wall cabinet for my routers and keep them at hand there. The router table has 3 drawers and the accessories are in there which is far handier for me. One of the more important pieces is the centering cone, do make sure that's kept safe.

Thank you. I'm getting the sense that the case is not particularly well regarded in the community. :) I like your solution to simply build a cabinet for the routers and their accessories.

Welcome to the forum Riley , nice choice of router :)
Tool cases are sometimes helpful for the person who travels to do woodworking. Which may be why Festool sells their systainers and others their packouts, etc. I'm pretty sure the various slots, etc. are pretty generic for whatever you may want to store in the case. Like most have said, I don't use the cases at all.

I’ve actually thrown away the majority of cases that I’ve had . Kept my Festool and my Bosch hammer drill cases though

Welcome. I have a Bosch 1617EVS in my MillRight MegaV XL and love it. I had to replace the switch, and ordered extra brushes just to have on hand. I also have Craftsman plunge router that I put in a table, and a small Dwalt trim router for odd jobs. I never used the cases that came with these routers mostly because the routers are always being used. The cases just take up room for me.
I also just got a Bosch 1617EVSPK with both bases and the case. If you look carefully, there are small diagrams in the case plastic showing what goes where.

The collet wrenches go on the left, the “T” Allen wrench (for above-table adjustment) snaps into a holder between the two bases on the bottom. The second collet fits near the collet wrenches. The manual fits into a slot in the lid.

Not included in the kit, but there are spaces in the case are for several bits of both shaft sizes along the edge below the bases, for both dust shrouds on the left above the plunge base above and below the hinge, slots at bottom right for several sizes of bushings as well as the bushing adapter. Looks like centering tool has a spot above the hinge on the left.

Pretty clever, actually, if actually transporting the kit to a work site, which I might be doing when helping a friend build his kitchen cabinets some day.
