Hi All

thanks for having me on this forum. I am from Australia. I have a new Bosch POF 1200 AE router and I was running a light near my work so I could see. Unfortunately the heat from the light has melted part of the dust boots on the vertical slides. Does anyone know how I can remove these please so I can replace?

I did see that diagram. Couldn't see any pins on my machine when I quickly looked but could be covered with paint though.I like your idea of taking top cover off and having a look in too!

Guessing here but I think the circled parts may be the stop for the top of the pillars. Unfortunately it seems to be at the bottom of the motor housing. Don't know if that's accessible without major disassembly. Maybe if you have the top cover off and plunge all the way down???

Yeah I am thinking that there is just the one circlip also? I think I may be duct taping up those boots and finish major routing jobs then start pulling apart.

The light you used must have been pretty bright. There are a number of posts showing how to add LED lights to the router bases....

I feel like a dill, brand new router. I have found a nozzle from a funnel that might work.
F111 is one of my fave aircraft. Just like their shape and ground hugging abilities.

Well I hope this helps someone. After watching a French Youtube clip without subtitles, I figured out that all I needed to do was to remove the right hand switch cover and remove the circlip and the slide assembly came free. Very happy. Now to order some new dust boots.

Just checked Bosch site. Looks like I can only buy the whole base assembly with plate and springs and boots etc for $110. Boots not sold separately.

I double checked and rang Bosch Power Tool service in Australia this morning. They only sell complete base assemblies ie base, plate, springs, shafts, etc etc all in one at the higher price. They don't even have any boots sitting around warehouse from warranty repairs. I will try and see if these funnel tubes work. The support guy on the phone said the main idea is to keep a person's fingers from getting pinched in springs. I thought that weird since you need two hands on handles to plunge. I said I thought it was to keep dust away from slides to stop them jamming up. He said oh yes that too haha.

Yes this post hopefully helps someone wanting to de-spring for router table use. I think it would be the same on all POF 1200 ae models. Was only 4 screws to take switch cover off but cover was quite tight to remove. I will let you know how my idea of the funnel tubing goes. The outside spring diameter is larger than the inner diameter of the tubing but of course there is the outer diameter of the tubing that is larger. The tubing will of course compress with the springs so it might be ok.

Still feel like a dill for placing that spotlight too close!

Solution!!!

I ended up buying two funnels with flexible plastic spouts. It took a bit to feed spring inside because they are slightly too small but here is a picture. Funnels including spout and top were $4 each!! I cut off the tapered part of the nozzle and the top parallel section.
