Bosch/Stanley compatibility
Hi Everyone. I decided to redo all my kitchen cabinets myself when the contractor quotes began to arrive. Since I already have a job site Bosch table saw which works great, I considered the Bosch RA 1171 router table to go with my router. BUT (!!) mine is a fine industrial Stanley 82901, still going strong after all these years. Would you believe no one at Bosch could tell me if the mounting plate that comes with the 1171, or even the adapter plate, would match my router? Who out there knows if the 82901 Stanley would fit the Bosch 1171 plate mounting holes? I don't know if I could precisely countersink my own holes in a heavy metal plate, and I do want a metal plate for durability. Really hope one of you can keep me in the Bosch family (I love the blue and red after all). Thanks a lot.

Why not make yourself a router table? There is a bunch of information out there on how to do it.Hi Everyone. Hi W and welcome. Hard to say if anyone has as old a router as you do and the 1171. I agree with Don that maybe it’s time for an upgrade and while the 1171 is serviceable, it’s small and not particularly spectacular. Most of us have made our own because we can do it cheaper and better and according to our personal preferences which tend to vary quite a bit. There at least hundreds of posts which are in our archives about building your own.
Don't know for sure, but lots of routers have have the PorterCable base pattern. Some have it despite also having a proprietary one. So check that first. Last time I did this I taped a piece of fairly heavy paper to the base, punched it through the openings, then used that as a template for drilling the holes. But since you're installing the router to a plate, you may be able to use a punch of some sort directly through the router base, then drill on the marks. Turned out just fine. Most pre drilled plates have countersunk holes so the bolt head doesn't snag your work.
