do you think that the CNC operations where tested after the "control box upgrade"?

it will be very difficult to troubleshoot an upgrade, rather than just a failure... did you receive any documentation?

found this error description below, it may help. if not already, would recommend that you look over (with power off) all wiring, reseat all connections (look at pins and sockets while you are in there), etc. then power on and check voltages where you can. the flashing red light may also be an error code. you may research the board part number and the code sequence...
