Ok my new triton runs great, but one thing.
Have any of you experienced kind of a clunking noise and “catching” feel when raising? (In table) yes, I took the spring out.
I removed it from the table, and the mounting plate, and worked it real slow, and its almost like the plunge rod that doesn’t have the ratchet is catching something inside at a certain point.

There is a slight bit of slack because of the way the raising/lowering rod attaches to the router. But it's very slight. Is the lock lever all the way loose or partially tightened? The raising and lowering parts are pretty simple, not much to catch on.
Lock is all the way off. Its about 1/2 or 2/3 of the way through the travel. Same spot every time.

Mine is quite smooth, so I'm not sure what to tell you from here. Clean off the plunge columns. Check down the one the spring is in to see if something is caught in there. Is it interfering with using it, or is it just a small annoyance? If you move the base up and down many times, does the catch remain the same or reduce slightly. If it reduces, then it's some substance on the columns or the guides the columns pass through.

Beyond that, I have no idea, mine is very smooth, although there is a little friction so the thing doesn't just flop down. I'm not that mechanical that I know the answer.
It’s almost more than a little annoying. When I get home from work tonight, I’ll check it out better.
Got thinking, I don’t remember it doing it with the spring in it in hand held mode, so I can put the spring back in and try that too.
I have sent Triton an email trying to explain what its doing. They are supposed to reply today, but we’ll see.
Thanks for all your help

Forgot, in the meantime , I’m going to get a few things put together to sell so I can order one from Home Depot.
This one was the display at the store so who knows.

Marco-no , just the router.
James- using the large knob, or micro winder, either one, doesn’t matter, still does it.
Sent Triton an email and they said dust guard needs adjustment. ???

Finally got back to the shop yesterday. Totally removed the dust shields.
Just like I thought, it didn’t really make a difference.
I kinda suspect the handle/winder assembly. It doesn’t do it in free plunge mode, only when using the mode where you turn the handle, or micro adjustment knob.
At least if that is it, the parts are cheap to fix it.
