Cedar Sign

Been working on lots of different projects lately, but this may be my favorite. Made for brother in law from big box store cedar 2x6's and finished with spar. Overall size is approximately 48"x30".

Third picture was from last night while sitting around the campfire burning my scraps. I decided to frame my 'scrap' with the fire.

That's a really good looking sign, Dave! That had to take many hours to cut - how long?

David
Did your BIL give you a big tip for that one?? He should have!!

Will see, Haven't billed him yet.
Very nice, Dave. Do you paint before carving?
Framed in the black really looks good. He should be more than happy with it.

Paul, the black was painted after the carving. I typically seal the wood first and then paint so that the paint doesn't bleed and also can clean off any paint that gets where it shouldn't. After painting, more finish coats are added.
