Changing router bases

1536 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  bobj3
I have been routing for about 10 years and about 1 year ago I purchased a PC router that has both a fix and plung base. I switched the fix base to the plunge base with no problem but now I need to switch back to fix base. I have loosen the screw that holds the plunge base to the motor but it does not release the base. Any ideas on what I should do next?

Hi Durke

Some of the PC routers have a metal clip that the allen screw goes in, and sometimes the clip gets in a bind, put the screw back in and with a small hammer tap the Allen cap scr. until it's free then remove the base. (take care when you tap it, just a light tap should do it)
Note *** use a Long Allen wrench if you have one (6" long or longer) so you can hit it sq.
