Thanks for the update on the finishing process. Sure that was a lot of time and labor however the result compensates . It shows that you are a perfectionist in the trade. The end product speaks of your character and talent. cheers.

Alexis...

Yes, can't argue that there is a bit labor intensive. Thats about the only down side to it though. The up side is that it does not take alot of space or equipment. The learning curve isn't bad at all and materials are pretty much user friendly. What I had originally thought to be a rather difficult process turned out to be very doable. Once you make up the heating rig you've got it for future projects. Looking forward to hearing how your efforts turn out.... :)

Wow, Bill.

A lot of techniques involved just to do the drawer´s front cover. I can´t imagen about the overall technique you used for the whole project.

Thank you, my friend. I´ll use this bending technique in a near future.

Thanks for the kind words Thomas. The finishing schedule was a bit labor/time intensive. But I should say that each time I do a top like this (mirror finish) it takes less time than the one before. You learn as you go. I believe the big thing with a built up
lacquer finish is patience. Allowing the lacquer to dry thoroughly. Secondly would be keeping your sanding medium clean. Corning on the sandpaper can and will actually end up creating deeper scratches than what your trying to sand out. Third would be knowing when to say enough is enough. After a while, IMHO you can build up a finish to far and end up with something that looks a bit like plexiglass. Remember, the thicker you go, the more you take away from the wood under. Lastly would be to be sure to apply the right kind of finish. Were this a play table, a poly top would have been the way to go. Much more durable than lacquer.
