That is absolutely gorgeous! And I love the orderly storage box. Most times, the pieces just get tossed into a box.

Thank you for the kind words.

Joe, for clarification I glued strips together and not individual pieces. I would not have the patience and sanity to make and set individual squares.

 

Nice chess set. I have seen some where the board base is the storage for the pieces.
I got a hand carved set, made in France. Made the mistake of challenging my grandson. Two moves- Check and Mate! I gave it to him.

Very nice. I made one of these in high school out of walnut and maple with a drawer under neath that held the pieces. I made one MAJOR mistake. I stored it in the attic and the glue gave up and it was in pieces 20 years later. Note to self. Don't store woodworking up in the attic.
