CNC 6040

I'm new to CNC, but I want to buy a CNC 6040 router.
Since I am not familiar with Mach3, I would like to control the milling machine with Estlcam.
I also need a 6040 with a parallel port.
I need tips on this.

G'day Michael, welcome to the forum.
we have a number of experienced CNC users on the forum, who may be able to help.

Welcome to the forum Michael.
Michael,

I think Estlcam is just CAM software and you will need some control software to run the CNC. It looks like you tell Estlcam what controller you are using and it outputs the gcode for that controller. It is like a post processor used with other CAM programs.

I would contact them to make sure but looking at the manual that is what I get from it.

I have to specify the controller when setting up Estlcam. I have the post processor. I create the G-code with Fusion 360 and upload it to Estlcam.
That is what I'm trying to say, you don't control the CNC with Estlcam, you control it with the control program you specify in Estlcam. So Estlcam will output the gcode to be used with another program to control the CNC but not run the CNC itself. The 6040 will run well on Mach3 but this is not the only CNC control software available for the 6040 machines.
