I dreamt of using the CNC router to flatten the sole and sides of my wooden and steel hand planes.
But is there something cheaper than this which cost USD500 + postage from USA to Australia?
(I used to tune my hand planes by hand using fine wet/dry sandpaper on a large tile or glass.
But my wooden hand jointer plane is 610mm long x 80mm wide x 80mm high (excluding handle)

My water cool spindle can run from 1,000 RPM to 24,000RPM.

Would this kit be suitable? ONLY $19.10

I could try programing G-code to do some orbital movement not just moving straight but I need to solve the dust collection issue first.

For me it shows unavailable. I don't see where it states an acceptable rpm - your minimum of 1,000 may be too much for this. My water cooled spindle says 6k to 24k, fwiw.

I can get this kit in Australian ebay for AU $21.08

These are made for a drill.
A typical drill press RPM is between 2000-3600 RPM.
My corded B&D 1/2" hammer drill has speed of up to 3,000RPM.
My Makita 18V 1/2" Drill has speed of up to 1,300RPM.
If I have to, I will run at 6,000rpm but I have established that my spindle can run at 1000rpm when controlled by Mach3 "M3 S1000" (clockwise) or "M4 S1000" (counterclockwise) M-codes.
My VFD inverter also has some settings to increase torque when RPM is low.

I will try to make a dust collection out of a CD container cover (i have plenty) and vacuum cleaner connector. Shown in picture is a 3" disk sander which can lock or unlock mandrel (made in Germany). I won't be using it because 3" may requires slow RPM.

Good News.
I Just found 2" 50mm Polishing Backing Pads Hook & Loop 6mm Shank B
that specifies max. 10,000 RPM - cost AUD6.31 each View attachment 403839
Just received the 195pc kit. But I don't like the mandrel (shank).
It is about 5.5mm instead of 6mm - suitable for a drill chuck only not a 6mm collet.
Will wait for the more precise 6mm Shank B that specifies max. 10,000 RPM
Update:
(I actually mounted it to test.
it worked fine spinning at 2,000RPM to 8000RPM. Some vibration noise at 10,000rpm)

Question is would anyone pay USD495 for that 5" (max 10,000RPM) Neiko Floating sanding head

when a 5" (max. 12,500 RPM) sanding head as shown below cost just USD10?

Balance, quality? Granted, that's a huge difference but that leads me to believe there must be something in between.

Better Quality SURE.
But I don't believe you can rate something at max. 12,500 RPM when it is NOT balanced.
Plus we are attaching abrasive disks via velcro on both. How can anyone attach abrasives 100% concentrically in order to maintain any perfect balance?
