Coasters Are Done

I got these done last of the week. But the wife has been on a trip to the great white north with the camera, to visit her ailing grandfather in Prince George. I took these pics when she got back. Not a big project, but she loves them,and I got to try Tom's templates routing again. You can see how I routed the recesses here.

GREAT! work Rusty. Can you tell me what kind of wood was used? I love hearing about 'exotic' wood that I can't get here in NZ. (Actually, it makes me jealous but I try not to show it:D)

Thanks everyone,they were fun to make. George ,I used your idea for the finish,a few coats of satin wipe on poly then rubbed on some wax. I'm very happy with the way they turned out. The holder is a solid piece of walnut finished the same way.

Geordie, They are hard maple and walnut. The dowels are from Home Depot. I believe they are birch,but they match the maple pretty well.
