collet problem

i have a makita-3612c in table mount and both quarter inch and half inch
bits are very hard to get out of the router,can someone tell me what
causes this to happen

Burrs on the metal of the collet or shank of the cutter. File or sand them smooth to make it work better. But not too much or they won't clamp right.

Sandy, some collets have a self ejecting feature. This type of collet requires you to loosen the collet a second time with your wrench after it first goes finger tight. I'm not sure if your router has this type of collet but following the above instructions will quickly give you the answer.
