Bob, you will find this answer in many posts with a full explanation of why. To make a long story short: When table mounted you will pass your work in front of the bit from right to left or clockwise.(When on the outside) Reverse this for inside or if you are free hand routing.

New at table routing and want to know by diagram the direction to to go both on the outside and inside of a piece. Thanks for any help.
