Just joined. Need some help with repair/restoration. Pulled the armature to get to the business end of the threads. Missing a lock nut but found a suitable jam nut. The threads for the lock nut are messed up. Will use a die and clean up. Don't know the proper size. It is obviously larger than the collet threads. Any help?

Not quite sure what you're saying.
First you say the lock nut is missing.
Then say you found a suitable jam nut.
Then say the threads for the lock nut are messed up; but you just said the lock nut is missing.

Either that or take it to your local hardware and try nuts until you find one that fits.

So, what is it that is missing, and what is it that is messed up?

If you have something that threads on, and something else that is messed up, I would just try dies on whatever will thread on, find one that fits, then use the die on the messed up thingy.
Pat it would help to see what part you are talking about as I'm not sure either. You can post a picture from your own hard drive by using the Advanced post option and then going below the dialog box and clicking Manage Attachments. Maximize the screen you go to to see all the buttons that will need to be clicked.

Ryobi made the router for Sears so good chance the threads are metric but it was made specifically for Sears so it's possible Sears specified SAE hardware. I've never bothered checking the old one I have to see. I wouldn't put too much into it as there are no parts available anywhere. Especially collets.
