Hi Everyone,
Newbie here looking for a little guidance and help. Being new to the world of routers I picked up an old Craftsman dovetail jig model 31525790 at a garage sale to dip my toe into this aspect of woodworking. After getting it home and downloading the manual, the manual states specific bits (26318 for ½” dovetail and 26319 for ¼” dovetail”) are required which after coming upon this sight and searching the forums can be challenging to find.
My questions are:
1. Are there other bits that would work with this jig?
2. Before I buy a router, are there special considerations I need to make to ensure the router will work with this jig? For example, should I look to purchase a Craftsman router or will any router with the proper bit and bushing work? (I read about a specific bushing needed for routers to be able to work with the Craftsman dovetail jig model 31525791), etc.
Thanks for any and all information!
Steve
