As I've retired now I've had the new professors query me for advice on how to get the best results cutting joinery for student projects. I made the video about cutting 90 degree tenons a few years back but forgot about it until recently.
Biggest tip is to do a clockwise perimeter pass with a spiral upcut bit first. This sheer off the fibers rather than pushes them outward.
The video and some theory you can find on my blog
HERE. I apologize for the low rez video, but it took me 3 hours to upload on my slow internet connection.
Square cut tenons were the majority of what I cut for my students. The challenging angled and compound angled joinery was where the fun was.
