Debarked at will.

I finally got all last years wind fall tralored down home. I forgot who mentioned to remove the bark on large logs, thanks for that. After a little learning curve, it got easier. A little bark trivia. These logs are 18 to 24”x8’ the bark pulled off about 100lbs. They where quite wet. Hope I can get them to the saw mill next year. They are bass logs.

I don't remember either on the debarking thing...Maybe Charles?
Anyone who lives here on the wet coast can tell you sad stories about not promptly debarking, and paying the price in rotted wood soon after.
It happens so fast it's amazing.

Yeah it might have been me. I took some nice lodge pole pine 8 footers and dry stacked them inside under cover and sawyer beetles got into them and turned them into Swiss cheese. Tunnels the size of a small pencil. Also sap rotted around the outsides. I thought leaving the bark on would help keep them from cracking. Most experience is learned the hard way it seems.
I had some white worms. I missed to say that was 100lbs per log.
