I have been unable to download any links given in any post on the forum. I have some work done to clean up some garbage- registry errors and a security hole, as they were described in the troubleshooting guide. However, I found tonight that I can't download any of Harry's links or other links as well. Any help, suggestions, hints are most welcome.
FWIW, I wonder how Harry finds time to get these links he puts on his posts.

John, for those who know more than I do, what Browser, search engine, and antivirus are you using?

John, I don't search out any of the links that I post, I rely on my many international friends who regularly email me with them, some are unsuitable to post, others I've already had yet others are a waste of space, I only post what I believe are worthy of being posted here on the forum!
By the way John I mentioned VLC in another thread, I forgot to mention that it is a freebie! Here is a link, if this doesn't open then I reckon that you need a technician.

Thanks, Harry. I'll try the VLC.
Using Charter Spectrum, Mozilla Firefox, Kaspersky Internet Protection.

Didn't work. I'll check with a kid at church who is a computer whiz. He helps maintain the AV system and computers throughout the building.

Can you provide me some links you are trying to download or the page of the links, so that I can do some testing?

A link to a thread or a post will suffice. I need to check to see if there is an issue with permissions or perhaps the item was removed from the hosting site it was posted on.

Thanks,
- JB

Doesn't really matter what link I click on. I tried Harry's suggestion and it didn't work. Right clicking "Open in New Tab" didn't work either. If I click on a link, I get the URL info (link info) at the top of the screen but the page is blank. Never had this problem with any other computer before- Dell Inspiron 15, 5000 Series, FYI.
Many thanks for your concern. Didn't get a chance to see the young guy at church yesterday.

Copied it and clicked on Paste and Go. All I got was the home page.
Edit: Clicked directly on the link and got through to the link. The PDF came up with stuff about a lathe.

For curiosity's sake, I clicked on King Roy's reply from Nov. 7, post #9 PDF. It opened.

Update: Went to WWT and shut off my Kaspersky system for a few seconds. I clicked on a thread about a bandsaw and was able to pull up the link for the video.

Bingo. I'm not familiar with how Kaspersky, but there should be a way to add the site to an exceptions list, or relax it's restrictions on downloads. Or you can just switch it off when you need to do a download. In any case, glad you got your download :)

Kevin, I'm a bit cautious on turning off the K protection. Right now, my K icon shows it has intercepted 999 baddies.
FWIW, clicked on a couple of link on Router Forums and got blank pages.

That's because kaspersky has a habbit of blocking all scriptes and trackers not just ads and malware. This can impact the remember me function, searching, even the image resizer.

Turn off Kaspersky and did make connections with links but I'm leery about this. Right now my Kaspersky icon shows it has intercepted 681 hiccups. Router Forums and Woodworking Talk are the only two where I have this problem.
