After looking on youtube for a good way to collect dust and shavings on the drill press, but only finding (in my limited search) various jigs, attachments, and wood-working projects that looked good but didn't seem effective in the videos, I looked through my junk bin and found the solution.

I took the auger screw from an old refrigerator ice maker, a clamp and shaft from old photography lighting outfit, and cut a piece of an old shop-vac wand for support of the hose, and made something that works. I hacksawed the end off the auger, bent the rod that attached to the auger motor, and used a hose clamp, zip ties, and superglue to connect to the shaft.

It not clear in the photos, but the fit is much tighter than it appears between the auger and hose.

It's adjustable, the hose is supported, and it's easily moved out-of-the-way when not needed.

Took about 20 minutes to make.
