I tried to find your original post a few weeks ago because Lowes is dropping the DP300L from their line-up and clearancing the existing stock. I picked one of these units up at that time and I'm pretty happy. The chuck key and the depth gage stops were missing, but Delta customer service sent me replacement parts within a week.

I replaced a low end Black and Decker Firestorm unit that was under powered and had a wobbly spindle. Trust me, your drill press motor should be more powerful (i.e., higher amperage) than your hand drill.

That is the little brother of the model I purchased this past weekend. I bought their 17" floor DP. Funny, as I am eyeballing the same mortise chisel kit.

If thet bench model is anywhere near as smooth as mine, I think you will be quite satisfied. I have been playing around with my press all weekend, and finally have something to operate these Forstner bits I recieved for Christmans.
