Hi Casy: A router has round bits and leaves a round end if the slot does not go the ends of the material you put the slot in. You can do one of two things. round off the material that goes into the slot. Or use a chisel and square up the the ends of the slot to fit the material going into it. Good luck.. Woodnut65
